Hi, im a new member sent here by 'Chikin' cause I just got myself a Corsa on Thursday.
I got myself a Corsa Life 03 Plate, 1.2 engine which had done about 28,000 miles but in excellent condition and had a full years MOT done just before I bought it which passed. It drives fine on Sat night when I'd been driving for about an hour I stopped at traffic lights and could hear this kinda loud rattling sorta fast ticking sound coming from the drivers right hand side of the bonnet. I dont know much about cars so had no idea what it was. It only happens sometimes and only when im stopped. Like it lasted about 5 mins and then stopped when I dropped off my mate. Didnt hear it again until tonight when i'd been driving for about 40 mins and again same applied only when I stopped and only for a wee while. Again when I got to my destination no noise at all.
So anyway does anyone have any idea what it might and what I can do? I have a 30 day warranty so will probably be taking it back to check out but obviously since its only happening now and again it'll be hard to describe
Any help at all will be appreciated
Cheers
Gary

Could be a number of things..
Timing chain on these isnt there? Or is that only the 1.4's?
As said take back to the garage, and don't accept the age old ''..there's nothing wrong sir..'' bull they all come out with lol

If you ever know anyone else with the 1.2 corsa they ALL complain of this problem. dunno what it is but when you buy it things are fine, but sounds like a ford fiesta with the tappets when you run it for a while. we got a saying about them when they pull up, usually say "so it's starting to sound like a corsa"
Every person with a 1.2 sxi i know has had this problem

Apparently its a normal noise it makes according to the garage. I was bit suspicious but i'll keep my eye on it, maybe get a 2nd opinion. Your post has put my mind to rest a bit more so i'll just see how it goes
Cheers
