Will it affect the air con in any way if its not used in the winter just in summer?

i think it would knacker it up if you kept it on all the time. my sister in law drove round for months with it on constantly, in the end it started making strange noises and a burning smell inside the car. it cost her £500 to get fixed(it is a ford though so i'm not suprised, lol)

On the new Golfs you have to turn it off as it is on when you first get in the car ...

you have to use the aircon at lease once a week in the winter, as it stops the gas in the system (which is a liquid) from drying up.
the liquid acts as a lub for the parts in the air con system.
