xe into 1.6 sport

right goin be xe'in the astra so just few questions apart from the engine loom ecu gbox etc what other parts do i need,eg-what engine mounts do i use?and off what car?i take it il need 1.8 or 2.0 front suspension legs and brakes obvousily,as mines small block and all that.Also what gear box do i have in my astra?is it a f16?and could i use that gearbox with the xe?
i want to keep the power steering as well,any info on doin this would be good,although ive done this before to my old onethis is little different with bein small block,just wana make sure i get all the correct parts for the job first.

I say keep and use the F16 box if thats what you've got ;)

power steering should be ok might need to change the pump for an xe one tho not 100% tho,yea you will need to upgrade legs brakes etc and astra gsi 2.0 mounts you will need too,up to you on choice of gearbox f16 will give you silly acceleration but not good top end i had f18 on mine and hated it swapped to the f20 and didnt look back if you need hand just give us a shout :) you got me number aint ya?

Easiest way is to get a complete donor thats rotten/M.O.T failed etc and swap the whole lot

iirc my 1.6 sport i know had small block hub thus box thus without grinding and ****ing about no possible to fit so imo id just get donor as chris says maybe run it for month then do conversion

Mk3 Astra, Calibra or Mk3 Cavalier as the mounts are all the same on those - Mk2 GTE are different. Wiring is also easier to follow from the newer cars
