Hello guys n galls.

Well, yesterday picked up a ver very nice set of Cavvy CDX leather for my car.

Fronts are already in, look very smart, comfy as anything.

Rears I'm having trouble with. Is there any way of fitting these seats by modifying the seats as opposed to modifying the car? If there is, and someone has some photos, I'd like to know how.

If not, then I'm gonna end up cutting and re-welding the original brackets.

Thanks in anticipation for any help

you tried to swap the material onto the astra seats

Hi Chikin,

bottom bits just about work, but the backrest is diferent - cavvy leather has integrated armrest and hatch into the boot, so frame is different and won't wirk (at least I don't think it will work).

:(

wel use astra bottom cav upper and move the bracket for the the top cetrne over slightly as iirc the cav rear is slighty wider

Nice idea, but the split on a cavalier is diferent to that of the asrta - so if you imagine that the astra split is 60/40 - the cavalier split is more 55/45, so the split won't align and the seats won't fold as they should.

I know it's being picky but I'm trying to make it look as stock as possible.

Thanks Chikin!

dothe rear to sections 'clip' to the supports at the top as of the width problem?

well to be honest, what I'm thinking is to modify the centre bracket so that I can bolt on an adapter (and bolt on a diferent adapter if I ever want to change the seats back to original) to fit the Cavalier backrest. My Dad is an engineer so would not take him 10 mins to design and make something to suit.

The width of the 'clips' is spot on, though their height is a bit out. Some of the guys on mk3oc.com have had to hammer the clips on the car down a bit to make them functional, so I will probably have to do the same.

The bench bit I will need to add/modify the existing hinge brackets to suit cavvy ones, but again, I'd like the option of reverting back to standard set up.

I was just hoping someone had a quick fix idea on how to do it lol!

What I'm probably gonna do is cut down the existing bracket to a stub, and get my Dad to make up 2 brackets that will bolt to it - one bracket for the Astra seats, and another for the Cavalier seats.

That will hopefully sort the 'backrest' part, but as for the 'bench part', I'm not sure how I'm gonna tackle it. May have to make up some duplicate brackets for the Cavvy bench, using the Astra seats as a pattern, and spot weld them on.

I think it sounds more complicated than it actually is... (lol says he confindently)...

is it a bench or 60/40 split wouldnt it be easier to find a dead cav and cut out the bits u need for the bench and tack them on, i know thats the easiest way to do it with cally seat?

It's a 60/40 split. Yeah you probably right FaT-AsTra16v, but it looks as if I'm gonna have to modify the bracket on the car itself, so I'm gonna try and work out a 'reversible' system for it, so that I can put the car back to standard if need be. The backrest is pretty straightforward - cut existing bracket, fabricate adapter to bolt onto it's stub.

The bench part on the other hand will be a bit more involved. At the moment I'm not sure how I'm gonna go about it, as i want the seats to be fully functional.

Keep the ideas coming though! Thanks!
