I've changed the price of the car - asking £1,000 o.n.o. (not £1,200 o.n.o. as originally stated. Sorry!)

I am considering selling my car due to the fact that my father is changing his and has offered me his current car at a price I can't really refuse.

Here's the info on my Astra:

Vauxhall Astra 'Sport' (phase 2), 1800cc 16v.
5dr hatchback.
80,000 miles (in fact just under currently 78,500).
Flame Red.
Taxed until February/March (can't remember which sorry)
Mot'd until September 20th 2008.

It's in what I'd call a good condition - always looked after, always serviced, and for it's age it looks great - in fact many people are surprised when I tell them it's a 1995 car.

Here's a list of what the car has:

INTERIOR:
Electric front windows
Electric sunroof conversion (using mk3 astra parts)
Leather Steering wheel
Leather seats (from a Cavalier CDX - fully fitted and functional, though the driver's heating element don't work. Heated seat switch panel from a GSi fitted so it all looks stock) (Still have the original and virtually mint condition sport interior)
Vauxhall Sunglasses holder fitted!
MFD in full working order.
Heater dial bulbs replaced a few months ago.

EXTERIOR
GSi (phase 1) rear spoiler fitted, though still have the original 'sport' spoiler'.
Rear wiper from a Fiat Marea Weekend fitted.
Rear arches in good condition - some signs of rust developing on the front edges of the arches - though hasn't gone 'through', and top of the arches perfect. No rust up inside the fuel filler cap area.
Tow hitch fitted (including electrics), has only towed small trailers now and again - nothing major. (Takes about 10 minutes to remove the towbar should you want to.)
Phase 1 GSi Rear light clusters (still have the Sport ones also)
De-badged.
Phillips Power X-treme bulbs fitted in the headlamps.

SUSPENSION & BRAKES
Car has uprated suspension as GSi - Jamex Springs (stiffer and -40mm), Spax fixed rate front dampers, Monroe Reflex Gas rear shock absorbers.
Front discs & pads changed about 3 months ago.
I have a set of brand new rear discs, pads and handbrake shoes (all Ferodo) which I'll sell with the car - not that the rear bits need replacing really.

MECHANICALS
New exhaust back box (genuine GM) fitted 2 weeks ago. Centre section replaced around Easter time.
Engine has a Courtenay Sport Air filter - recently cleaned and re-oiled.
Also has a Eco-tec device fitted - though I've screwed it right in so that it doesn't actually do anything - easy enough to make it functional - I still have the instructions from the previous owner.
Head Gasket changed 2006.
New Camcover gasket early August this year.
New Timing belt fitted April this year.

ECONOMY:
around 400-450 miles per tankfull - equates to around 42mpg with sensible driving.

ECOTEC ENGINE WORRIES!!!!
The only things I've changed on it since owning it are the lambda sensor. I've had no probs with this Ecotech engine and frankly don't know what the fuss is about!

ICE:
Erm, choice for you - either the original Vauxhall Radio Cassette Player, or the old JVC CD player. Standard in all other respects.

BAD BITS:
Ok, it's not perfect. The rear drivers' side door has a dent. It's noticable, but the paint is still in one piece and so hasn't rusted at all. In fact, I never bothered to do it as it was there when I bought it.
The front passenger wing has at some point had a knock near the headlamp - so it doesn't quite sit fluch with the grill. You can't notice it until you get up close, and headlamp alignment is not affected.
Rust on the rear arches - only on the leading edges, and so far not a problem. I honestly don't think you need to change the metal to get rid of it. I neutralise it with some wet'n'dry, then kurust regularly and to be honest it's getting better not worse!
Handbrake - not the best handbrake - I think it just needs a clean and the self adjust mechanism (inside the disc/drums) cleaning. Passed it's test last week though!
Oh yes - no heating on the drivers' seat. It seems the element has gone, as it's not the wiring in the seat itself - I;ve checked.

The car has served me very well over the past 3 or so years in that I've owned it, has not let me down, and whilst not being a 2ltr red-top GSi, it still has enough torque to be 'useful'.
I've changed the oil at 5,000 miles regularly (i'm a firm believer in that!), and never used cheap oil - always Castrol Magnatec, or a proper synthetic.

I honestly don't know what to ask for the car, and having looked at similar cars being sold on various other sites, and in view of the condition of the car, I guess I'm gonna ask £1000 or near offer.

As I've said, the only reason I'm considering selling the car is because I've been offered my Dad's Audi at a really good price. I had every intention of keeping the Astra for a few years - so reluctantly I'm considering selling on.

I'm based in Machynlleth (post code SY20), for those that don't know Machynlleth is about an hour's drive west of Shrewsbury, or a couple of hours drive north of Newport, Gwent.

I also have a set of hyper-x sideskirts that will fit the car - although they've never been on it.

If anyone's interested, please pm me.

More info about the car on the link in my sig.

Cheers
