I've got a standard C20LET (apart from a Bailey dump valve) and it misfires under acceleration at around 4000rpm, almost always. Also, it doesn't always seem to be giving full boost (although does sometimes), but there are no definite links between this and the misfire (that I have noticed). Sometimes the engine management light comes on for varying lengths of time - sometimes flashes on and off again, but has stayed on for hours in the past. I flashed the fault codes and it was "voltage low on injector number 1". I did some static tests (i.e. checked injector resistance, supply voltage and earth resistance) and all checked out fine with the values given in the autodata workshop manual. I've also put on new Magnecor 8.5mm HT leads (which improved it slightly), new Vauxhall dizzy cap and rotor arm.
There doesn't seem to be any obvious reason for this problem, certainly not mechanical. So i'm guessing it's electrical, BUT I don't want to take it to my local Vaux dealer for them to put it on Tech 1 and just read the codes and assume the problem will be fixed by replacing the parts it tells them to. Ideally, I would be able to get it on a rolling road and read live data from the car, especially when it misfires, to see if there's an obvious cause. But I don't know anywhere that I can trust that would be able to do this in my local area (can this be done with Tech 1 plugged in driving down the road, or is this not possible - i've never seen it!). Does anyone have any suggestions on where I can take the car to? (i'm in Liverpool, but can obviously travel in the north west). Also, does anyone have any thoughts on what could be causing these problems?
Hope somebody can help, it's been doing it for ages!
