it all depends on one thing and one thing only how much you have to spend and how long your willing to hunt around for a place in that price range im tight and any more than 400 for a full hit is dear many disagree and theres a lot of people who deserve more for a full hit its all about to me will it improve the cars value by even half what ive just spent on paint
so mike what you want doing and what you want spend

The muppet has got a (vague) point - paintwork all comes down to cost. How good a finish is decided by the prepwork and money 99.9% of the time. Theres a few places around here that are ok, but it all depends what you want to spend and how good a result. Stumpy maybe able to help you out on this one aswell

well, to answer a few questions:
i need a pair of rear arches doing (properly) ive been quoted £140 each for these which i didnt think was a bad price, by v.s.s in burslem, i need a bonnet, bootlid, spoiler, skirts, front and rear bumpers. and a few bits tidying up on the rest of the car.
how much am i willing to spend? preferably not more than £600 for a good job.
oh and wayne and rhyd, i wouldn't hold out for my call ;)

A grand is considered pretty good for a full hit. Carabic blue or something similar l think its called, is a pain in the **** to match as there are a few different variations of it.

Dave used Bradbury's for his, and it was 2.5k i think, but he had a bare metal respray. I know a guy who lives in my mums street, he did all paint work on my saxo and I never had any probs with him. I've known him for 23 years and he is a decent bloke. I think all sprayers can be hit and miss tho......... Guys name from my mums street is Mick Nail, tel 01782 395782

Phils Bodies on Leek Road are good. Having grown up in the motor trade I know a lot of the garages locally although some arent still around :(
There is also a guy in Beaufort Road who came to look at Steves Manta.. he can be a bit pricey but is good at his job.
Bradburys do a good job but again pricey.
Micky Nail is averageish from what I remember ... have to say I wouldnt go to him... I would save a bit more money and go elsewhere.. if it were me.
As said above a lot will also depend on the paint and finish you want as some products are more expensive, more difficult to match and a **** to get right when sprayed so that will no doubt affect the price.

are you having a full hit mike or just panels that need doing? imho id take it to jonesy for a full hit

Jonesy? You must be joking, l wouldn't let him paint my wheelbarrow. I used Paragon in Leek for my Cav CDi and the GTE although l had a few problems with the GTE since they have changed alot of the staff over the last year. Paul at Cheadle Bodyshop on the Dilhorne road is pretty good and cheap

Hows about some Vinyl? l was thinking along the lines of an early 80's American Ford Stationwagon............. Mmmmmmmmmmmm mock wood :D
Jonesy specials, where do l start. Ok, l have a friend/customer with a 93 plate Golf which used to belong to another friend / customer before her. She dropped it off at 8am in the morning for a full hit including a colour change from grey to black. The car was / is pretty bashed about with several dents, deep scratches and lots of scabs. At 7pm the same day she had the car returned to her door completely finished - l kid you not! That cost £800 and the finish resembles the moon with lots of orange peel, dry areas, bits of ***** in the paint, poorly sanded filler and very bad masking. The car is now permanently dirty.

Vinnies Cav is awful up close, Dales Cav was an obvious rush with alot of runs and Zoes Clio is/was well a Clio - never looked at it after so can't comment on that one. I've seen a few "Jonesy" paintjobs that look ok - turns out that most of those were done by someone else anyway like Lathes XR3i as a recent example. Surprised you'd recommend him anyway really after the balls up he made of welding that crossmember into your Nova van and conning you out of the white SR.
