HI guys my new astra coupe has started doing a strange thing, it revs way too much when changing gear as my foot goes on cluch, in neutral as well when i press the cluch brrrruuvvm. It happend to my corsa few years ago where the cam sensor has gone.

The guy i bought my car off says that it is natural but i dont thing it is some how its so bloody enoying to lisson too essecially 1st to 2nd gear.

Any suggestions, cause cam sensors are not cheap. The ems is fine because that was checked by the guide.

Regards
Alex

ICV or Throttle Stepper Motor playing up? Not sure what setup these ecotecs have.

Tried checking for a sticking throttle cable?

Sorry not explained well cause it not easy to expalin. In other words the engine revs when im chaning gears and my foot is on the cluchwith outout any power. Ok set by step i start egine. I move of in 1st gear foot come off throttle and other foot on cluch then it revs right up before i slot it into second.

It also revs over 1000 revs when engine starts in morning which didnt happen to my old cars. Hope thats better explained.

I know exactly what you mean because my mums 2 litre ecopap does the exact same thing, its now had two cam sensors and three crank sensors... it turns out that the wiring between the cam sensor and the loom passes over the alternator, after a few year this starts interfering and causing all kinds of strange probs, not sure if this is the cause of your fault however because the cav kept throwing the EM light on... start with Rhyd's suggestions if i were you.
