Alright lads, i've got a corsa running a cavalier v6 motor in it. I've gone to wire in the astra gte digi dash, all working fine apart from the speedo. I didn't do the engine conversion but i've noticed that the speedometer frequency sensor has been cut from the ECU/gearbox, so I can't get the GTE dash to read any speed. I found an ECU pin diagram for a cavalier. Pin 'No 9' says speedo frequency sensor. Does anyone know if I just run a cable from this point on the ECU and tie it in to the astra transducer (Red/Blue wire), then run a cable back upto the GTE dash will this work?, I have also just ran a positive and negative back upto the dash. Any help would be great. Thanks!

Mike.

I'll have to check that mate, as far as I know its the original cav box. But it had no plug connections on top of the gearbox where the three wires to the speedo cable would have gone if you get me, so i have just screwed the transducer direct on to the gearbox threads, sorry if i'm confusing ya.

Hi,

You will find the rev counter reads wrong ... it took me 2 years to get mine sorted lol ... as for the speedo I have a wiring diagram somewhere .. will dig it out and post it up here for you. Nothing comes from the ecu it needs to come straight from the transducer if I remember right.

Yeh if you could that would be great cheers mate, yeh I just had the car ticking over and the rev counter seemed fine but like you say, once you take it out for a run its a couple of thousand revs out, can this be sorted easily?

This is basically all I have on the gearbox, I have just screwed the transducer straight on top and wired 'RED/BLUE' from transducer to GTE dash, Live from transducer to ignition live at dash, and neutral from transducer to neutral at dash, should this work or am I missing something?

You will need to add the speedo sender to the gear box and connect:-

black to ignition
brown to ground
blue/red to 21 small pin

attached is the wiring diagram I have.

Thanks mate, so as long as I attach the GTE transducer straight to the gearbox as shown in the pic, then wire up the transducer as you say this should work? I'm going to have a play anyways ill let you know the out come, thanks for the help.

yeah the transducer should attach to the drive you have in the gearbox then as you say wire it up same as the diagram and it should digi-tastic mate :)

Yeh you can he a go if you fix this speedo lol. Its all wired up as people are saying but still no joy, all I can think of now is that the Transducer maybe goosed, do you know if these can be tested just to make sure its pulsing, I've definately got a good supply across live and neutral.

you can test the transducer 2 ways ... with a oscilloscope or attached a drill on the centre bit on turn it slowly and it should register on the dash. I have had a faulty transducer once, also are you sure you have the right transducer for the dash as there are different ones.

Its the 16V dash i've got, ill get some pictures posted up of what I have. I have been told I can test the pulse using an LED across live and the pulse wire on the transducer(not a bulb, I don't want to melt the thing), I might try this. I've tryed spinning the transducer with a drill but with no luck.

Looks like a dodgey transducer, I've tryed testing it varius ways but with no luck, thanks for the help anyways.

do you have a spare one to test ? what letters are on the side of the transducer ?

I only have the one, I've tryed testing it using a small LED across the pulse to live to try and get a pulse but with no joy, I would need to check the letters on the side of it.
